The Pennsylvania Waiting List Campaign’s goal is to end the devastation of Waiting Lists for persons who are in need of services through the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs Intellectual Disabilities and Bureau of Autism Services. The waiting list is comprised of self advocates, families, caregivers who are registered with the system and waiting for funding for services and supports, and also providers, agencies and supporters who work with us to reach our common goals.

There is NO Waiting List Initiative in the Governor’s proposed budget!

16,463 people from across the state are waiting for services
3,208 are in Emergency need
7,805 are in Critical need
5,450 are in Planning need

The PA Waiting List Campaign asks for a Waiting List initiative to serve:

ALL 700 high school students leaving special education.
ALL 3,208 people on the Emergency Waiting List including those with caregivers over the age of 60.

The Waiting List will grow significantly as a result of the Governor's failure to meet the very real and urgent needs of thousands of Pennsylvanians. The prospect is very real that some people who have lived at home with their families will now have no option but to be placed in state institutions and at a much greater cost than if they received services in the community! Pennsylvania families have been providing care for decades and saving the Commonwealth billions of dollars…they deserve better.

Supporting our most vulnerable citizens is a core function of government!
